Stan Harrell is senior vice president, chief financial officer, and chief information officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. As a member of the Chamber’s Management Committee, he is accountable for strategic leadership at the organization, with specific responsibility for financial and technology management.

In his CFO role, Harrell leads a team of professionals who continually work to serve and support the mission of the Chamber and its affiliated organizations’ boards and management teams through three primary goals: increasing revenue, maintaining cost control, and maximizing cash flow. Harrell has implemented a customer-focused financial analysis and budget process and has designed and implemented proactive measurement, evaluation, and reporting tools. Over the last nine years, Chamber revenues have increased from $60 million to $150 million, supported by financing mechanisms developed to encourage responsible growth.

In his CIO role, Harrell has upgraded the Chamber’s entire application and network infrastructure, significantly reducing annual costs. He has transformed the Chamber’s information technology infrastructure through the automation of all membership and financial transactions, greatly improving the accuracy of daily sales reporting and membership data. Through the implementation of software solutions, he has provided the organization with efficient and up-to-date operating tools.

Prior to joining the Chamber, Harrell served as vice president, Finance and Information Technology, at the American Trucking Associations in Alexandria, Virginia, from 1988 to 1998. He began his professional career with KPMG in Houston.

Harrell serves as chief financial officer and treasurer of each of the Chamber-affiliated organizations. He is on the boards of the Institute for a Competitive Workforce and the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Financial Executive Institute. Harrell received his M.B.A. from Georgetown University; maintains his CPA license from the state of Texas; and graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife and their two children.

The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
