Stephen Jordan, Senior Vice President and Executive Director 

Stephen Jordan is senior vice president and executive director of the Business Civic Leadership Center, and has served in this capacity since the organization's founding as the Center for Corporate Citizenship (CCC) in May 2000. 
 
Stephen leads BCLC's engagement with a broad spectrum of companies and chambers of commerce in the United States and overseas. He has produced numerous conferences, policy papers, and other projects and programs related to the fields of corporate citizenship, business and society relations, global development, education, disaster assistance, military quality of life, critical infrastructure protection, homeland security, and public-private partnerships.  Some of the most notable coalitions he has played a role in launching include the Partnership for Critical Infrastructure Security, the National Cyber Safety Alliance, Business Strengthening America, and the U.S. Business Education Network.
 
In addition to his work for BCLC, he is currently serving on three non-profit boards: the Council for Corporate and School Partnerships, the New World Institute, and the Southern Business Leadership Council. Stephen is also a Caux Round Table fellow, advising CRT on projects relating to reform of business education curricula, formation of social capital for more responsible business, and implementation of the CRT Principles for Business.
 
Previously, Stephen served as executive director of the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America from 1997 to 1999. In the private sector, he has worked in the publishing industry and has a background in strategy, marketing, and new product development.  He began his professional career as a legislative assistant for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. 

Stephen holds an M.B.A. from Georgetown University and an M.A. in Political and Social Thought from the University of Virginia, with accompanying academic honors from both institutions.  He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honor society.

Kathryn Williams Traver, Director, Operations

Kathryn Williams Traver is director of operations for the Business Civic Leadership Center.  She is responsible for overall program management and operations, and joined BCLC in 2004 as the programs manager.

Kathryn previously worked for Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership, a 501 (c)(3) affiliate of Discovery Communications Inc.

Prior to her work in corporate philanthropy, Kathryn served in both marketing and advertising roles in the broadcast and cable industries, including the development of strategic partnerships for various networks.

Kathryn earned her M.B.A. from the University of Maryland and her B.S. in Business Administration from Villanova University.

Catherine "Kitty" Taylor, Sr. Manager, Communications 

Kitty Taylor manages the Business Civic Leadership Center's internal and external communication initiatives, with responsibility over the organization's branding, publications, e-newsletter, research projects, media outreach, and online communications. She has been with BCLC since April 2005.

Kitty previously served in a marketing and editorial role at D.C.-based public affairs agency Dittus Communications. She also served on the marketing and communication staff of the Greater Washington Initiative, the economic development affiliate of the Greater Washington Board of Trade.

Kitty earned a M.A. in Public Communication from American University in Washington, D.C., and a B.S. in Interpersonal Communication with an emphasis on organizational communication from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She is a member of the Washington, DC chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

Rebecca Freyvogel, Sr. Manager, Corporate Relations

Rebecca Freyvogel has been with the Business Civic Leadership Center since the summer of 2004. As the manager of corporate relations, Rebecca helps companies identify how BCLC can support their corporate citizenship initiatives and introduces companies to BCLC's programs and partnership opportunities. Rebecca also manages sponsorships for BCLC's conferences and forums.  

Prior to joining BCLC, Rebecca supported various initiatives in Washington, D.C., including the White House Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives' 2004 Conference and the Republican National Committee's "Catholics for Bush Campaign." Rebecca has worked as a fellow at the Heritage Foundation, where she served under the vice president of external relations, and at the Becket Fund, a non-profit law firm.  Rebecca also was a member of the President's Society at the Catholic University of America.

Rebecca holds a bachelor's degree from The Catholic University.

Gerald McSwiggan, Manager, Special Projects

Gerald McSwiggan is manager of special projects for the Business Civic Leadership Center.  He is responsible for expanding BCLC's outreach to the public sector and informing companies of public policy that affects their involvement in Civic Leadership. 

Gerald previously served as Federal Programs Coordinator in the Washington, DC Federal Affairs Office of Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and helped lead the transition to current Governor Charlie Crist.  Prior to working for the State of Florida, he worked on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Fellow for U.S. Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma. 

Gerald holds a B.A. in Psychology from Wake Forest University.

Caitlin Codella, Coordinator, Programs 

Caitlin Codella joined the Business Civic Leadership Center in July 2007. As BCLC's program coordinator, Caitlin manages agenda development and logistics for conferences, forums, and the annual Corporate Citizenship Awards Dinner. She also provides research and analysis to support BCLC's programs.

Caitlin most recently worked for Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., as a case manager. There she acted as a liaison and advocate for patients and their families. She has also worked in Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-5) Washington, D.C. office.

Caitlin holds a B.A. in Social Work from Mercyhurst College.

Taryn Bird, Office Coordinator

Taryn Bird joined BCLC in January 2008 and is responsible for the coordination of Executive Director Stephen Jordan's schedule. Taryn also assists BCLC staff with daily operational tasks and is the point of contact for all general inquires about BCLC. She can be contacted here.

Prior to joining BCLC, Taryn was on staff with the U.S. Chamber-affiliated Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America. She has two bachelor's degree from Penn State University in economics and Spanish.

Mark D'Alessio, Coordinator, Research and Publishing

Mark D'Alessio joined the Business Civic Leadership Center in February 2008.  He is responsible for the production of BCLC publications, the e-newsletter, research projects, and online communications.  Mark also handles outreach for external publication contributors and measures the impact of BCLC communications. 

Prior to joining BCLC, Mark worked for The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) as a public policy intern and for Congressman Tom Davis (VA-11) as a Congressional Intern.

Mark holds a B.A. in Government and International Politics from George Mason University.
