Response to Earthquake Disaster in China

Corporate Donations

3M:  has made an initial donation of $157,000 in cash and $435,000 of medical & security materials to Red Cross Society of China to actively support the medical personnel and rescue workers in the disaster area in their emergency work and post-disaster disease prevention.

Abbott: Providing $1 million in funding and product donations, working with Project HOPE and Heart to Heart International and in collaboration with the Chinese Government.  Product donations, including antibiotics, will be distributed as part of rapid relief shipments to local hospitals and health care facilities.

ACE:  has donated $1 million to the Red Cross Society of China.

Agilent Technologies:  and its employees have collected or committed at least $820,000 in assistance.

AIG:   will make an initial $1 million contribution to Give2Asia, a philanthropic organization affiliated with The Asia Foundation and match all employee contributions to the AIG Disaster Relief Fund.

Air Products: has made a $100,000 donation to "Save the Children's Earthquake Relief Effort for Children in China."   Save the Children is beginning to set up child-friendly centers and temporary classrooms for primary schools in earthquake-affected communities.

Alcoa: has donated approximately $150,000 to the Red Cross Society of China for disaster relief.

American Express Foundation: has contributed $100,000 to American Red Cross for Sichuan earthquake relief efforts.  Additionally, company matching, the employees in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China have also donated more than $100,000 to local charity channels.

American President Lines Co. Ltd: have donated $226,768 to the Red Cross.

Amway:  with its distributors and employees worldwide, have donated $4.3 million.

Anheuser-Busch: is donating $500,000 to the Red Cross Society of China and providing more than $1.1 million or 425,000 cases of fresh drinking water.

Applied Biosystems: is donating reagents, instruments, and software valued at approximately $800,000 and arranging to provide training to process more than 40,000 biological samples that are the estimated requirements.

Applied Materials:  will be making a contribution of $143,000 to the Red Cross Society of China.

Aramark: has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross for China earthquake relief.

Arrow Electronics:  donated $100,000 to three organizations (Red Cross, AmeriCares and MercyCorps), and also implemented a matching gifts program for employees in North America and Asia.

AT&T:  has established an employee matching program with support of up to $500,000

Avon:  has committed to donating $5 million for long-term reconstruction efforts in the aftermath of the earthquake.  In addition, Avon's China staff has generously donated over $55, 000 personally.  The team has also initiated the "Avon Family Aid Project" to help those who have been directly affected by the disaster.

Baxter: has committed approximately $630,000 in IV solutions, therapies for renal patients and critical care nutrition products for donation to the Ministry of Health and hospitals.  The company also made a $25,000 cash donation to AmeriCares.  Additionally, The Baxter International Foundation has approved a $350,000 contribution to be shared by the Red Cross Society of China and Project Hope.

Bayer:  has sent medical supplies worth $720,357 to help with the earthquake relief efforts through the Sichuan Health Bureau. In addition, $43,221has been donated by the company's staff and will go to the Red Cross.

Bechtel:  has established a 1 to 1 matching fund for employee gifts.

Boeing:  made a $250,000 corporate contribution to help provide needed relief supplies and safe drinking water. Boeing is also matching employee contributions, which are at $250,000 to date, for the American Red Cross.

BP:  has donated $200,000 to China Red Cross and a has implemented a special employee matching program.

Cargill:   More than $450,000 was donated to Red Cross societies for China relief efforts, including a corporate grant, business-unit donations, employee gifts and corporate match to employee donations. An additional $500,000 has been committed to longer-term recovery efforts with local NGOs partners for projects to be selected by Cargill China operations.

Caterpillar: Made initial gift of $550,000 to the American Red Cross and World Food Programme and will match cash contributions from employees, retirees and dealer employees to the American Red Cross up to an additional $500,000. Deployed equipment valued at $10 million, including machines and generator sets, as well as a team of skilled equipment operators.

Chevron Corporation: will contribute $1.4 million towards relief efforts.  The funds will be directed to the Sichuan Province Red Cross, an affiliate of the Red Cross Society of China. (China Delegation Participant)

Chubb:  will contribute $500,000 directly to the American Red Cross for relief efforts connected to the two catastrophes (Myanmar and China). In addition, the insurer will match employee contributions to qualified relief organizations on a two-for-one basis, up to $500,000. If employee donations total more than $500,000, Chubb will continue to match those dollars on a one-for-one basis.

Cisco:  is contributing an additional  $45 million to be directed towards reconstruction and redevelopment in Sichuan's education and healthcare sectors. Cisco corporate, the Cisco Foundation, Cisco employees and the Morgridge TOSA Foundation have contributed over $2.6 million for local rescue relief efforts.  (China Delegation Participant)

Citibank: has announced its plans to donate $735,000 to support disaster relief efforts by the Red Cross in Sichuan. This amount includes a Citi China business donation of $250,000, a Citi Foundation commitment of $250,000, as well as donations by Citi employees and businesses around the Asia Pacific region.

Coca-Cola:  has donated more than $2.4 million and delivered 20,000 cases of water for earthquake relief.

ConocoPhillips:  is making a donation of $285,000 to the Chinese Red Cross Sichuan Earthquake Appeal. The company is also matching up to $100,000 of gifts made by employees, retirees and contractors from around the world that are pledged to organizations involved in the relief effort.

Corning Incorporated:  has contributed over $207,000 from the company, the Corning Incorporated Foundation and through the generosity of its employees.

Credit Suisse:  has agreed to match 2:1 any employee donation to support relief efforts in China.

Cummins:  has pledged cash donations and equipment valued over $1 million. The company is also matching employee donations one for one for up to $252,125.  Cash donations have gone to the Red Cross. 

Daimler:  is donating more than $785,000 to the Red Cross Society of China.

Dell:  has donated more than $1.1 million to the relief efforts in China.

Dow Chemical Company: Donated $715,000 to the Red Cross Society of China and the China Youth Foundation.  Additionally, Dow has donated 2 drinking water units worth $285,000.

DSM:  has donated a total of $462,325 to aid the disaster relief and has donated over $102,290 worth of amoxicillin, cefalexin, vitamins and other emergency items to help to treat the injured.

Eli Lilly: will donate a total of $1 million to relief efforts. This donation includes $800,000 in much-needed medicines - mainly antibiotics in the near term, and possibly insulin and mental health medications longer term. The Lilly Foundation also is directing cash contributions of $100,000 to Project HOPE and $75,000 to Mercy Corps, and is setting aside another $25,000 to match employee donations. Matching employee funds will be donated to the American Red Cross China Relief Fund.

Emerson: has donated more than $942,000 from the company and employees to the Red Cross Society of China.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car:  has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist in the relief efforts.

Ernst & Young:  is contributing $250,000 to Save the Children and $250,000 to Oxfam America to address longterm rebuilding needs, particularly for schools.  Additionally, they have created a fund to which its people can contribute, with donations being matched by the practice and its partners. Employees in China have also volunteered their time and skills to the Red Cross to assist with logistical tasks and are assisting by auditing incoming donations and keeping the appropriate records.

ExxonMobil: Committed a $50,000 contribution through China Charity Federation and granted an additional $50,000 to support the employee gift matching program.

Fannie Mae:  has donated $100,000 to AmeriCares.

FedEx:  is donating more than $300,000 in cash and $1.2 million of in-kind shipping to support relief efforts in China and Myanmar.

Fluor Engineering & Construction:  donated $113,000 cash to China Charity Federation.

Ford Motor Company: has donated over $700,000 in cash and vehicles together with its joint venture partners and investment companies in China.

General Electric:  Providing immediate funds of $1.4 million to the Red Cross Society of China and over half a million dollars of equipment and services to enable ongoing emergency relief efforts.

General Mills:  has committed $500,000 to the American Red Cross to support the earthquake response efforts led by the Red Cross Society of China.

General Motors:  has made an initial donation of $1million to relief efforts in China. 

GlaxoSmithKline: GSK China/Hong Kong donated approximately $1.4 million (10 million yuan) to China Red Cross. Employees are donating blood to help meet needs for blood. Donations of medicines will be made as appropriate, and donations coordination is taking place through the PQMD. Employee donations are directed to the International Federation of the Red Cross.

Goldman Sachs: has donated $1million to MercyCorps – plus the company will also match gifts from their employees.

Hewlett-Packard:  Committed $500,000 to the American Red Cross International Relief Fund in partnership with the Red Cross Society of China. The HP Foundation instituted a gift-matching program for employee contributions for up to $350,000. HP will donate approximately $300,000 fair market value worth of IT equipment to help rebuild local schools.

Home Depot:  has committed $100,000 to the China Charity Foundation and 1,000 tents and other supplies for earthquake survivors.

Honeywell:  has pledged $1 million dollars to support rebuilding efforts. Honeywell employees have donated an additional $285,000 to date. Working with Operation USA and local resources in China, Honeywell is already identifying specific reconstruction projects to help the region recover.  (China Delegation Participant)

HSBC: Made a $1.4 million contribution to the Hong Kong branch of the Red Cross Society of China in support of the relief efforts.  In the U.S., HSBC will make a dollar for dollar match through the company's matching gift program for employee's personal donations, of at least $25, up to the program's annual maximum of $5,000.

IBM: Donated $430,000, in addition to servers, software and services to the China Civil Affairs Department to manage IT system and support statistics and authoritative information on rescue and donation efforts. Employees in southwest China are working with critical functions such as telecommunications, power, transportation management, and seismology departments to support various IT systems. IBM donated servers to Beijing Red Cross Blood Center to help them increase blood samples analysis statistic capability.  Total in-kind donations to date are $2 million.

ING: Donated $100,000 to UNICEF China.

Intel Foundation:  has donated $6,207,976 for China earthquake disaster relief. The gift is the largest ever in the history of the Intel Foundation.  Intel employees contributed $453,988 which was matched by the Intel Foundation.  Intel Foundation has also offered 2 grants totaling $5.3 million.

International Mining Machinery:  is donating $143,000 to the relief efforts.

JM Huber: is donating $100,000 through Save the Children and the International Red Cross.

John Deere Foundation: has donated $250,000 to the International Red Cross (earmarked for China Earthquake Relief) and will match 1:1 employee contributions up to $1,000 through the remainder of 2008.

Johnson & Johnson:  has donated $5 million for relief and rebuilding efforts including cash donations to the Red Cross of China, product donations, employee contributions and donations to various NGOs including UNICEF, Save the Children and Project Hope. J&J has partnered with NGOS and the governemnt to rebuild basic health infrastructure, provide intervention programs to help survivors cope with post-disaster trauma and continue to work closely with organizations on microfinance programs that assist single and widowed women.  (China Delegation Participant)

Johnson Controls:  has donated $1.43 million to the Red Cross Society of China.

JPMorgan Chase Foundation: Will make a $200,000 contribution to the Red Cross for relief efforts in China. Local employees have raised $400,000 which will be donated to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation for purchase of much needed supplies.  Employee giving will be matched for donations to China/Myanmar relief efforts up to $100,000 in total.

Kellogg Company:  announced a $250,000 donation to the American Red Cross to assist with earthquake relief efforts in the Sichuan province in southwestern China. The contribution is being made by Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund and will be designated to support the efforts of the Red Cross Society of China.

KPMG International: Seeking to raise at least $1 million through its global network of member firms by the end of June through partner, employee, and firm donations.  The International Corporate Citizenship Office will coordinate the firms' response and donations. Will allocate resources through partnerships with key development agencies, Save the Children, World Vision, The Red Cross and UNICEF, who already have ongoing front line operations in Myanmar and China.

Kraft Foods: will make a $150,000 cash donation.  Kraft China has made a product donation valued at $400,000.

Las Vegas Sands: has provided a donation of $700,000 to relief efforts.

Liberty Mutual:  is donating more than $143,000 to relief efforts.

Lubrizol:  has donated $36,017 to Red Cross.

Mary Kay: has donated $460,183 to the disaster areas through provincial Red Cross.

Mattel:  is donating $125,000 to the American Red Cross and Save the Children for the relief efforts in China and Myanmar.

McAfee, Inc:  is donating $25,000 to Give2Asia toward their Myanmar/Burma and
China relief funds and is matching up to $25,000 additional of employee donations.

McDonald's:  has donated a total of $1,815,300, including funding to build new schools in Sichuan and  in kind donations of meals and beverages. 

Merck: will donate up to $1 million in resources that will address the immediate needs of the recovery efforts. This includes responding to requests for medicines and vaccines as well providing support for the rebuilding and recovery efforts.  Additionally, the company is matching employee donations 2:1 to go to the American Red Cross China Relief Fund.  (China Delegation Participant)

Merrill Lynch:  has donated $1 million to the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF). In addition, Merrill Lynch will match, up to $1,500, any contributions to the Red Cross International Response Fund or the China Youth Development Foundation that employees or retirees make.

Microsoft:  has donated and pledged $1,670,000.  Microsoft and Microsoft employees are engaged in a wide range of disaster relief activities (employee volunteers, urgent IT support for MS customers, local disaster response organizations, and China Red Cross Foundation, and MSN donation site for school rebuilding).

Monsanto: has donated $150,000 to the China Red Cross for relief and recovery.  Additionally, they have created a special matching gifts program for employee contributions which will match dollar for dollar up to $5,000 per employee.

Motorola:  has donated $590,000 in cash to disaster relief and $1,560,000 worth of in-kind donations.

New York Life:  has committed more than $300,000 to China earthquake relief. The Company is contributing more than $200,000, including $50,000 to the China Red Cross, $50,000 to a local relief fund, and $100,000 matching agent, employee and retiree contributions to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Heart to Heart International..

NYSE:  NYSE Euronext and the NYSE Foundation have approved donations totaling $500,000 to the Red Cross Society of China and the American Red Cross International Response Fund to support the relief efforts associated with the earthquake in China's Sichuan province. 

Nike:  has donated more than $1.4 million in cash to the China Foundation For Poverty Alleviation and more than $2.8 million in products to Sichuan.

Nu Skin Daily-Use & Health Products Co.: have donated more than $1.6 million including cash and supplies.

Office Depot Foundation:  has given a $50,000 donation to the China Youth Development Foundation and Project Hope for the construction of a school in one of the areas that was affected by the recent earthquake.  Additionally, they have given  $30,000 to Doctors Without Borders and have donated 1000 backpacks to Save The Children.

OpenTV Interactive Software Co.: has donated $18,356 to the Red Cross Society of China.

Oracle Corporation:  has instituted a corporate match program and has pledged to match global employee contribution up to $5 million.  Donations will be distributed through the American Red Cross to the Red Cross Society of China.

Peabody Energy:  donated $50,000 to support earthquake relief work in Sichuan through American Red Cross in Washington, D.C.

Pepsico:  has donated over $1.4 million to the Red Cross Society of China and is providing product donations (food and beverages) to those in need.

Pfizer:  has made a $1.4 million contribution to earthquake relief contribution in medicines and financial assistance.

Philip Morris:  has donated $86,442 to the Red Cross Society of China.

Principal Financial Group:   has donated $269,071 to the American Red Cross International Relief Fund and the Red Cross Sociey of China.

Proctor & Gamble:  has pledged more than $7.6 million in cash and product donations for relief, recovery, and rebuilding in the affected areas in China.   (China Delegation Participant)

Prudential Financial: has donated $300,000 in contributions to date.

Qualcomm:  Donated $500,000 to China Red Cross

Rohm and Haas: has contributed $70,000 dollars to the China Red Cross as well as a matching fund based on employee contributions.

Shaklee Corporation: is donating cash, personal care supplies, and nutrition bars valued at $342,890 to assist earthquake victims.

Sony:  has donated more than $1.4 million to relief efforts.

Sunrider International:  is donating $143,991 and many of its food and beverages, nutritional supplements, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, bottles, Sunbreeze Oil, and hand cleansing gels.

Symantec:  has donated $150,000 to The Red Cross Society of China.

Synthes:  has donated External Fixators for primary fracture treatment worth $250,000 as well as $19,500 in cash following the Earthquake to the Health Department of Sichuan Province and the Shanghai Red Cross.

Tahitian Noni International: is donating a total of $187,239 in cash and products to the China Children and Teenager's Fund

Terex Corporation:  has given more than $144,071 from corporate donations, personal donations, local employee 2-to-1 matching and international employee contribution. Additionally, Terex China has donated one HR20 excavator and Terex CJ Crane has provided 5 truck cranes and operators.

Tetra Pak:  has donated $151,865 for emergency aid three days after the quake.

Texas Instruments:  is pledging $250,000 to aid the American Red Cross China Relief Fund for immediate relief efforts

The Timken Company:  has donated $100,000 to the Red Cross.

Tyco Electronics:  Made a $150,000 cash contribution to the Red Cross Society of China to support the overall relief effort. Matching dollar-for-dollar contributions made by U.S. employees to the American Red Cross, earmarked for China Earthquake Relief. Creating a separate internal Tyco Electronics Earthquake Relief Fund to which its employees worldwide can contribute.  The Network Solutions business segment in China has committed nearly $85,000 worth of products and services to help rebuild critical telecommunications and energy networks.

United Airlines Foundation: will provide a matching donation, dollar-for-dollar, for the first $50,000 donated by employees.  United is providing donated cargo space aboard aircraft to transport critical supplies to China.

UnitedHealth Group: will match employee gifts up to a total of $100,000 to four established charities to assist in emergency relief and recovery efforts in China and Myanmar.

UPS:  Donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross in support of Red Cross earthquake response efforts on the ground, led by the Red Cross Society of China. Pledged an additional $500,000 for in-kind support to aid the delivery of relief supplies.  An additional $50,000 has been pledged locally to the China Charity Federation for medicine, biscuits, clothing, quilts, drinking water, tents, umbrella, torches, candles and masks among other items.  

U.S. Chamber of Commerce:  is contributing $10,000 to the American Red Cross.

UTC: is providing a cash donation of $100,000 through the International Federation of the Red Cross and establishing a global matching gift program for donations to the Red Cross (China, American or International).

Visa International:  has donated $500,000 to Oxfam to support relief efforts in both China and Myanmar.

Wal-Mart: Providing more than $3 million in disaster relief and reconstruction for the central part of China that has been affected by the earthquake. A portion of the contribution will be given to the China Red Cross for disaster relief.

Walt Disney Company: will be making a $1 million contribution to aid in the relief and rebuilding efforts in China.

Western Union:  Foundation is matching dollar for dollar individual donations to Mercy Corps up to a total of $250,000, bringing the total potential funds raised to $500,000.  The Foundation will donate $2 for every dollar donated to Mercy Corps by Western Union employees worldwide.

Wyeth Pharmaceutical Co.:  has donated infant formula, Centrum vitamins, and necessary pharmaceuticals, valued at $458,000 to the China Red Cross.
