Support Trade with China

Take Action

China has become one of the largest customers for U.S. goods, services and agricultural products in the six years since it joined the World Trade Organization (WTO).  Since 2001, China has cut its tariffs in half and become America's fastest growing (and soon-to-be third largest) export market. The U.S. economy has benefited significantly from this growth; U.S. exports to China have grown by almost 250 percent since China's WTO entry.

Notwithstanding some significant challenges in the U.S.-China commercial relationship, such benefits and China's market are all the more important to our economic health at present, as exports, and exports to China, are spurring crucial domestic growth at a time of economic downturn.  Over the last year, exports have accounted for nearly half of all U.S. GDP growth.  Simply put, the U.S. and Chinese economies are now deeply intertwined.

With the U.S.-China economic relationship threatened by protectionist legislation on Capitol Hill, it is crucial to voice your support for an open and positive trading relationship with China.
