Transcript

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today issued its most comprehensive assessment of the U.S. China commercial relationship.  We continue to be strong advocates for improving U.S. China relationship. China’s integration into the world economy is in the United States best interest.  But our report highlights the many areas where there are challenges to American business. We talk about the need for great intellectual property enforcement in China – we talk about the need for more market access for American companies we talk about the greater need for investment opportunities as well. At the end of the day, we need to hold China accountable to move in this area of economic openness. We are encouraged by dialogues such as the one launched recently by Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson to move forward our economic agenda with China. But long term dialogues are not the answer alone - We need short term deliverables and on that part we will continue to be strong advocates on behalf of American businesses and we will continue to work with the U.S. government and the Chinese government to ensure that U.S. companies is able to compete and prosper in this very important market called China.
