Transcript

According to a recently released study by the research firm Tillinghast, America’s lawsuit system cost 261 billion dollars last year. That translates to 880 dollars for each and every American – or a little over 3,500 dollars for a typical family.  This study is just another powerful reminder that lawsuit abuse hurts all Americans.  Especially during this time of the year, when average Americans struggle to make ends meet, it's hard to swallow a broken lawsuit system that is costing the typical family 3,500 dollars a year. And who benefits from the current lawsuit system - according to one recent poll, 75 percent of voters believe lawyers benefit most. It's the Scrooge approach: sue-happy plaintiffs' lawyers enrich themselves while average Americans pay the bill.
