Transcript

It is unfortunate it takes a tragedy like the Minneapolis bridge collapse to spotlight the fact that America's infrastructure system is badly in need of repair and funding.  We seem to only make infrastructure a priority every once in a while, such as when a bill is introduced or a tragedy occurs. But it's time for America to realize that our transportation system is being stretched to its limits. A decaying surface transportation system costs our economy about 63 billion dollars annually in lost time and fuel. The Chamber seeks a Federal commitment to a sustained cohesive national policy and investment strategy for infrastructure that will move people and goods safely.  The physical platform of our nation's economy is its infrastructure. It is time we treated it as such.
