Transcript

This week hundreds of business people from across the nation are in Washington, D.C. to voice their support for trade and the pending trade agreements.  Until Congress passes trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea, and Panama, American families, workers, and businesses will be forced to compete on an unfair playing field in these growing markets. As part of world trade month, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, along with its grassroots trade program, TradeRoots, are hosting small businesses and trade supporters from around the U.S. this week, to speak with the press and Members of Congress to raise awareness of the importance of trade for small business owners.  They will let lawmakers know that inaction on trade is putting America's families, consumers and businesses at a disadvantage in the international marketplace. American workers, despite the media hype, make an awful lot of things here in the U.S. and it is only fair that Congress pass these new trade agreements to eliminate foreign tariffs and other barriers to U.S. exports.  Only then will our small businesses and workers be able to compete on a level playing field.
