U.S. Chamber Labor Attorney Receives Federal Appointment
Peter Eide to Enforce Labor Relations Law

Washington, D.C. - United States Chamber of Commerce Director of Labor Policy Peter Eide was sworn in today as general counsel to the Federal Labor Relations Authority, where he will enforce federal labor relations law across all government agencies. The President announced the appointment yesterday during the congressional recess.

"Peter has a comprehensive grasp of the issues at work in the type of complicated cases before the Authority," said Randel Johnson, Chamber vice president of labor policy. "His dedication to detail, balanced with his solid sense of the need to achieve practical results, will be put to good use in the federal government."

Prior to joining the Chamber in 1990, Eide handled complex labor issues for D.C. law firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld and the Baltimore-based law firm of Piper & Marbury. Additionally, Eide served as labor relations and employee relations manager at Martin Marietta's Baltimore plant and served as a field examiner for the National Labor Relations Board.

"Peter will provide important guidance for this vital branch of the government and the depth and breadth of his experience in both the private and the federal sectors means he will hit the ground running," said Johnson. "It's an honor to have been selected by the President for this important position and we wish Peter the best of luck. His counsel will be sorely missed at the U.S. Chamber."
