U.S. Chamber Joins in Launch of Web Site to Help Small Businesses

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the U.S. Small Business Administration and American International Group Inc. to launch a Web site that allows small businesses to assess their international risk.

“As companies become increasingly global, more small business owners are finding themselves operating overseas,” said Suzanne Clark, Chamber executive vice president and COO.  “This Web site is a tool to help them understand some of the risks of doing international business, and to help them avoid oversights that could cost them and their employees.”

The Web site, www.assessyourinternationalrisk.org, offers information and quizzes to help small business owners understand common international risks, determine if they have adequate international insurance coverage, and discusses coverage options that can help limit their international risk.

This public education initiative is made possible through a pooling of government, nonprofit and private-sector knowledge and resources.  Though the interactive site does not offer insurance products for sale, it is an important resource that can help small business owners as they consider international operations.

“AIG is pleased to continue our relationship with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and begin a relationship with the Small Business Administration to meet the evolving needs of growing companies across the nation,” said Kristian P. Moor, executive vice president, AIG, Domestic General Insurance.  “The combination of public and private sector resources will provide small business owners with the information they need to make smart decisions concerning overseas expansion, and how to address the risks inherent in entering the international marketplace.”

Additional information on small business and international trade is also available on the U.S. Chamber affiliate Web site.  http://www.traderoots.org

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
