U.S. Chamber Names New Director
Computer Associates CEO to Serve on Chamber Board
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Chamber of Commerce has elected Computer Associates’ President and CEO John Swainson to the board of directors of the world’s largest business federation. Swainson, an Islandia, New York, businessman will serve on the 100-person board.
“The Chamber congratulates John Swainson,” said Thomas Donohue, Chamber President and CEO. “Swainson’s involvement will help advance the Chamber’s pro-business policies, as well as promote free enterprise.”
Computer Associates, one of the world's largest management software companies, delivers software and services across operations, security, storage, life cycle and service management to optimize the performance, reliability and efficiency of enterprise IT environments.
Prior to joining Computer Associates, Swainson was vice president of worldwide sales for IBM’s Software Group, responsible for selling IBM's diverse line of software products through multiple channels. Before that, he was general manager of the Application Integration and Middleware division, IBM’s largest software group, a division he started in 1997. In this position, he and his team developed, marketed and launched the highly successful WebSphere family of middleware products.
“The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is an important voice in the public dialogue about issues that are critical to businesses and the economy,” said Swainson. “It is an honor to serve on this board.”
