WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) today urged the U.S. House of Representatives to quickly take up three vital pieces of legal reform legislation that were reported out of the House Judiciary Committee today.

 

"Lawsuit abuse is crippling employers, stifling job growth and driving up the cost of everything we buy," said ILR president Lisa Rickard.  "We applaud the members of the Judiciary Committee for their hard work, and call upon the full House of Representatives to quickly consider these bills that will help restore basic fairness to our nation's legal system."

 

The House Judiciary Committee sent to the full House H.R. 554, the Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act, H.R. 800, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act and H.R. 420, the Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act.  Information on the legislation is available online (http://www.instituteforlegalreform.com/).
