U.S. Chamber Salutes Outgoing Chair
Donahue Oversaw Successful Year for Nation’s Business Community

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The United States Chamber of Commerce today praised Maura Donahue for her outstanding service as the Chamber’s chair for 2005-2006. Donahue, president of DonahueFavret Contractors Inc. Holding Company, ends her term this week.

“Maura did a tremendous job promoting the Chamber’s policy priorities during her term,” said Chamber President and CEO Tom Donohue. “She has been a key player in promoting our small business agenda.”

During the year, Donahue was a highly visible and vocal advocate for gulf coast businesses impacted by the 2005 hurricane season.  On numerous occasions, she joined government, business, and nonprofit executives to share information about reconstruction needs and discuss strategies for rebuilding the devastated area.  Donahue also traveled across the country leading the Chamber’s efforts to rein in skyrocketing health care costs, bring under control frivolous litigation, and reduce burdensome government regulations.

Donahue has served on the U.S. Chamber’s board of directors since 1998 and has chaired the organization’s Council on Small Business for the last five years.  She currently serves on the boards of Greater New Orleans, Inc., St. Tammany Parish Economic Development Foundation, and Resource Bank.

Donahue, a lifetime resident of Louisiana, and her husband, Jack, live in Covington, Louisiana.  The Donahue family includes 6 children and 14 grandchildren.

The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
