Chamber Pushes for Greater Economic Opportunity for Small and Medium Sized Companies in China
Ambassador's Appearance Shows China's Commitment

Miami, Florida- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce continued its push for promoting trade opportunities for small and medium sized American companies in China today with a stop here in Miami, Florida.  Top Chamber officials, joined by the Chinese Ambassador, Zhou Wenzhong, held a half-day conference on promoting trade between companies in Florida and China.

 

"Today's event is about opening doors in China for small and medium sized American companies, especially ones from Florida," said Myron Brilliant, the Vice President for Asian Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  "However it is not enough to merely open doors for U.S. businesses, we need to make sure that our companies are going to get the support they need once they get there.  That is why I am so glad Ambassador Wenzhong of China is joining us here today.  His presence shows that China is serious about opening its markets to smaller American companies and making sure that these smaller companies get the support they need."

 

Today's event put on by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's TradeRoots division marks the first in year-long series of events the group is planning to hold across the country to discuss business opportunities in China.

 

"Today's event was an incredible success," said Leslie Schweitzer, a spokesperson for TradeRoots.  "However, quantifiable gains will not be achieved overnight.  But rather through continuing to do road shows like today's and with the continuing support the Chinese government, greater economic opportunities for small and medium American companies seeking to do business in China will be realized."
